Some Tips for Controlling Water related Diseases

Here are some quick fixes that can be of great help in controlling water
related diseases.

1.If you have piped supply of water in your home,
  Get your under ground and over head water storage tanks cleaned twice a year.

  Fill drinking water in clean containers from the supply, before entering
  Under ground or overhead storage tank.

2.If the drinking water source is hand pump or well, ensure that the sides of
the source are cemented and the effluent water is guided out about 15 feet from
the hand pump/well, to avoid contamination. We need to have cemented floor
of the Latrine and the wastewater lead out about 15 feet from the hand pump.
This precaution has to be observed vis-a -vis neighbours, because dirty water
contamination does not recognize domestic boundaries.

3.Encourage washing of hands with soap after the use of bathroom, in the
   Society.

4. If more than on persons are suffering from diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, fever
    Hepatitis start drinking boiled water, consult your doctor and get your
    drinking water tested.
