June 2003 - Ebad Ur Rehman is an ex-student of Pakistani School at Al-Khobar. He graduated from Al-Khobar in flying colors and at present studying at Hamdard University. He has written a little introduction of the University and the department he is studying. This introduction will be very helpful to those parents who are planning to send their kids to Pakistan for further education. HAMDARD UNIVERSITY 
Chartered in 1991, Hamdard University is a not-for-profit organization. Today, Hamdard University is the largest private university in Pakistan. It is even larger than some of the public sector universities and has been growing faster than any other university in the region.

HAMDARD INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES 

Hamdard Institute of Management Sciences (HIMS) was established in 1994 and is making rapid strides towards realization of the vision and mission of Hakim Muhammad Said (Shaheed), the founder Chancellor of Hamdard University. HIMS main campus, “Naemat Hall”, at Madinat ul-Hikmah was constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 million, spread over an area of 85,000 sq. ft. 

The institute houses equipment and facilities, which are on the cutting edge of business education. HIMS city campus is located in the serene yet commercially accessible area of Adamjee Nagar, which caters to the needs of the working professionals.  

The Institute provides broad-based, cross-functional business education required to meet the future needs of business in a privatizing and developing economy. The faculty includes MBAs with long professional, executive experience and those holding Ph. D. degrees from renowned universities of the world. Their professional expertise in various areas of management sciences enables the students to gain understanding of the multi-disciplinary needs of business.  

The institute offers a variety of degree programs. The programs offered at the main campus are: MBA 2-year Degree Program, MBA 1-year Degree Program (after BBA (Hons.)), BBA (Hons.) 3-year Degree Program, BBA (Hons.) ITM 3-year Degree Program, Doctoral Porgram M. Phil./Ph.D. in Business Administration. HIMS programs at the city campus are: MBA Executive (2-year Degree Program), MBA Evening (4-year Degree Program), PGD in Business Administration 1-year Course), B. S. (Hons.)  B. I. (4-year Degree Program). 

HIMS uses the most advanced teaching methodology including hands on workshops, real world business solutions, case studies, symposia, seminars and conferences backed by state-of-the-art audio, visual and computer facilities. The institute has an excellent library containing latest books, professional journals and magazines, company reports, research reports and dissertations. The library is backed by Bait al-Hikmah central library of Hamdard University, containing more than half a million books.
