Pak-India DGMOs discuss border situation

NEW DELHI Oct 18 (NNI): Indian and Pakistani generals in charge of military operations have spoken to each other over the situation on the border after Wednesday’s standoff between Islamabad and New Delhi about deploying additional troops by India.
India's Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen S S Chahal had a telephonic talk with his Pakistani counterpart on Wednesday afternoon, Army spokesman Brigadier Jaspaul Singh told reporters here.
According to PTI, he said the Pakistani DGMO was told that the Indian government's policy ''is clear and does not need reiteration'' and added ''we have no intention of taking advantage of the current complex situation being faced by the western neighbour.''
Singh asserted that if there was any attempt at infiltration, ''then we are duty bound to prevent it. This is self evident.''
Asked whether there has been any increase in deployment of Pakistani troops across the Line of Control (LoC), Singh said, ''We would not like to comment. But let me say this that Indian army is fully geared up to meet any challenge should such a situation arise.''—NNI
