MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 27 (NNI): Kashmiris on both
sides of the Line of Control and elsewhere in the world Saturday observed
Black Day against the landing of Indian troops on their motherland on this
day in 1947 to fetter the Kashmiris in the chains of ensuing savage
slavery.
It was on this day in 1947 when India usurped the right of
self-determination of Kashmiris by landing its invading troops in Srinagar.
The call to observe the Black Day was given by the All Parties Hurriyat
Conference.
Complete strike and anti-India Demonstrations marked the Day in occupied
Kashmir. In Azad Kashmir and various capitals of the
world, the Kashmiris held protest rallies to attract world
attention to the ongoing Indian military terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
Addressing a protest rally in Muzaffarabad, former Senior Minister,
Sahibzada Muhammad Ishaq Zafar said that India will never succeed in
perpetuating its illegal occupation of Occupied Kashmir by military might.
Others who addressed the rally included AJK Minister for Forests Mufti
Mansoor ur Rehman, former ministers, Raja Abdul Qayyum, Khawaja Farooq
Ahmed, Naib Amir JI Azad Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq
ahmed, Allama Kifayat Naqvi and others.
The speakers urged the world community to save Kashmiris from the state
terrorism unleashed by over seven hundred thousand Indian troops.
They marched to the UN Observer Mission and submitted a protest memorandum
to the Observers. The memorandum urged the United Nations to fulfil its
commitment of granting the Kashmiris their right of self-determination as
pledged to them under its resolutions.
In Rawalpindi a large number of Kashmiris held a demonstration and staged
a sit in infront of UN Observer Mission to press for demand for the right
of self-determination usurped by the India for the past fifty years.
The demonstration was held under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir People
League. A big procession of Kashmiri youth and
displaced Kashmiris today on the eve of black day against the Indian
occupation of Kashmir, calling for freedom and plebiscite and chanting
slogans like down with Indian occupation, held a strong demonstration and
sit-in, in front of the UNMOGIP office Rawalpindi.
Chairman J&K People's League Muhammad Farooq Rehmani led the procession.
The participants were holding black flags, placards and banners in their
hands, demanding implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir. Addressing
the procession Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman JKPL urged on the world
body to differentiate the freedom movement of Kashmir from terrorism. He
also presented a memorandum to the representative of the UN military
observer's group asking Kofi Annan the secretary
General of UNO to pay greater attention to Kashmir, war hysteria in India
and revive efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the urges
of Kashmiris and the Security Council resolutions. The memorandum said
that the Kashmir was a neglected issue and the blood of Kashmiris was
being spilt every where by India for the last twelve years and thus India
enjoyed free hand to spill the human blood of
our innocent populace.
Referring to the US led war against terrorism the memorandum said that the
present situation had given India a pretext to roast Kashmiris in the
furnace of revenge, hate and anger without any reason, thus jeopardizing
world peace more than any other factor. It further said the war against
terrorism would lose its efficacy, if the monster of state terrorism
against freedom loving people was not defeated and Kashmir imbroglio was
not given the front seat at the world body.
To mark the Black Day, a protest demonstration was held by Jammu Kashmir
Democratic Freedom Party here in front of the Indian High Commission
against the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Indian troops.
The demonstrators condemned custodial killings, forced disappearances and
extra judicial killings in Jammu and Kashmir at the hands of Indian
troops.
Vice President JKDFP, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said that the amnesty given to
the forces has leashed a region of terror in
Kashmir. He said that advocate Gh. Jeelani a political workers and
district President of JKDFP, Tariq Rawal and Ejaz Ahmed were picked by the
forces outside their offices and killed in cold blood shows that the
repression against the innocent people of Kashmir have increased manifold
since the Agra summit.
He said that India has been trying to crush the freedom struggle of the
Kashmir people for the realization of their right and the respect for
their fundamental human rights by the use of brute force. He reiterated
that India can not suppress the freedom movement despite the fact that its
troops are involved in the harshest, detestable, inhuman and immoral acts
which the mankind have ever witnessed.
He stated that the crimes of the Indian occupation forces against the
people of Kashmir have now reached genocidal proportions, presenting the
worst example of state-sponsored terrorism. He asserted that the People of
Occupied Kashmir are engaged in a legitimate struggle as the august body
of United Nations had recognised their right of self-determination.
He regretted that despite growing condemnation and criticism by the
civilised nations and international human rights violations, Indian
continues to commit large scale brutalities in Occupied Kashmir.
Saghar appealed the world community and human rights organization to take
cognizance of the latest situation in Jammu and Kashmir and help establish
peace in the region by resolving this core cause of tension.-NNI |
