ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (NNI):
India has track record of committing violation of LOC several times and
subjecting the innocent
civilian population across the line but Pakistan stands ready to give a
befitting reply to any aggression by New Delhi, said
Press Secretary to the President and DG ISPR, Major General Rashid Qureshi
here on Tuesday.
Talking to a group of reporters after the daily briefing of Foreign
Office, General Qureshi said, " Only on Monday, three civilians
were martyred in the Leepa valley due to indiscriminate Indian firing," he
To a question, he said, " the Indian Artillery resorted to open fire at
about 1530 to 1600 hours on Monday, violating the LOC
and it targeted the civilian population. Pakistan armed forces retaliated
effectively, silencing the enemy guns," Qureshi
To another query, Qureshi said, " our policy has been to defend each and
every inch of our land, it is India which has been resorting to aggression
against Pakistan. However, our armed forces were fully prepared and quite
capable to deliver," he went on to say.
In response to a question, he said Pakistan was still ready to resume
dialogue with India any where, at any level and at any time to seek a
negotiated settlement to the core issue of Kashmir and we hope India would
also reciprocate these gestures.
Qureshi brushed aside the press reports as baseless and unfounded that
some US parachuters have landed in Islamabad. "
The press should confirm any such reports from responsible quarters before
publication," he suggested.
To yet an other query about Qazi Hussain Ahmad's possible meeting with
President Musharraf, General Qureshi said, " the
President was again taking the politicians into confidence due to the
latest developments in the region, however, no invitation
has yet been extended to Qazi for the time being," he said.-NNI
