expresses solidarity with Pakistan
ISLAMABAD Oct 31 (NNI):
President General Pervez
Musharraf Wednesday received M Jusuf Kalla, Indonesia’s Coordinating
Minister for People’s Welfare at the Chief Executive Office.
The latter was accompanied by Mar’ie Mohamad, Chairman, Indonesian Red
Cross and Amidhan Shaberah of the Indonesian Council of Ulema.
During the call Kalla expressed his country’s support for Pakistan’s
decision to help in the international campaign against terrorism. He also
expressed Indonesia’s solidarity with the government and people of
Pakistan in the current difficult situation.
President Musharraf thanked Indonesia for its support and understanding.
He was deeply appreciative of the humanitarian assistance extended by
Indonesia for Afghan refugees. The President apprised Kalla of the current
situation in Afghanistan and other related developments.
The Indonesian government has pledged to provide relief goods, such as
medicines and blankets, worth half a million US dollars for Afghan
refugees. Yesterday, an Indonesian Air Force C-130 aircraft brought the
first 6-tonne consignment of these goods. A group of 18 medical doctors
has also been sent to Indonesia to Pakistan to treat the sick and wounded
in Afghan refugees camps.
Indonesian Minister Kalla has been sent to Pakistan by the President of
Indonesia, at the head of a delegation personally to hand over the first
consignment of relief goods and as a gesture of solidarity with Pakistan.
