Official Holidays to be Observed During Year 2002 in Pakistan

Islamabad December 28, 2001
According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Interior here
today, the following public and optional holidays will be observed in the
offices of the Federal and Provincial Government during the calendar year

5. May Day Wednesday 1st May 2002
6. Eid Milad-ul-Nabi Saturday 25th May 2002
7. Independence Day Wednesday 14th August 2002
8. Iqbal Day Saturday 09 November 2002
9. Eid-ul-Fitr Thursday, Friday & Saturday 5th, 6th ,7th December 2002
10. Birth Day of Quaid-i-Azam/Christmas Wednesday 25th December 2002

The following will be bank holidays. However, on these days the banks will
remain closed for public but NOT for their employees:-

i) 1st January 2002 (Tuesday)
ii) 1st May 2002 (Monday)
iii) 6th November 2002 (Wednesday) corresponding to 1st Ramzan 1423)

17. Dussehra Tuesday 15th October, 2002
18. Birthday of Guru Balik Suwamiji Monday 21st October, 2002
19. Shab-e-Barat (15th Shaaban) Tuesday 22nd October, 2002
20. Diwali Monday 04th November, 2002
21. Guru Nanak's Birthday Wednesday 20th November, 2002
22. Day after Christmas Thursday 26th December, 2002(only for Christian)
Government servants desiring to avail optional holidays shall take prior
permission of the Head of office concerned and no government servant shall
be granted more than one optional holiday in the case of Muslims and three
optional holidays in the case of non-Muslims in a calendar year.
