Federal Minister for Communications and Railways Lt. Gen(R)
Javed Ashraf Qazi visited the Central Diesel Locomotive Workshop today and
reviewed repair work of Railway Locomotive. Secretary/Chairman Railway Lt.
Gen (R) Saeed us Zafar, JS (Admn) Brig. Umar and the senior officers of
Ministry of Railway and CDL were also present. Divisional Superintendent
CDL Mr. Ashfaq Khattak gave briefing.
On this occasion, Lt. Gen. (R) Javed Ashraf Qazi said,
revolutionary steps are underway to modernize the Railway system in
Pakistan. He said, the experts of Pakistan Railways enjoy international
repute and that repair work, and preparation of Railway Locomotives is
being carried out in Pakistani factories that will help make the country
self reliant in this sector. He said, we desire to provide world level
maximum facilities to the travelers of Pakistan Railways and for this
purpose, the passengers Coaches are being renovated. He said, reforms have
been introduced for improvement of administrative affairs in Pakistan
Railways and the outcomes are very encouraging. He said, confidence of the
people is being restored on Pakistan Railway. He said, the deficit of
Pakistan Railway is being controlled and its income is being increased day
by day. He said, we are struggling to increase railway income and that to
achieve this objective the employees of Pakistan Railway should have to
work with national spirit. He said, Pakistan Railway is repairing the
Locomotive and Passengers Coaches in accordance with international
standard and that this is a great achievement towards development of
The federal Minister visited the various wings of the workshop
and directed to increase the progress.
Giving briefing, Mr. Ashfaq Khattat said, in the CDL the
Railway Locomotives are overhauled. He said, 74 Locomotives in Karachi, 68
Locomotives in Lahore, and 414 Locomotives in Rawalpindi have the capacity
of overhauling per annum.
