Pakistan Condemns Israel's Actions against Palestinians

Islamabad, March 29, 2002. The Government of Pakistan has noted with grave concern the aggressive actions taken by Israel in surrounding and attacking Palestinian President Arafat’s Ramallah headquarters and the decision to completely isolate him. Israel’s re-occupation of Palestinaian Authority territories constitutes a serious threat to regional peace and security, and puts into jeopardy the efforts of the international community for the resumption of peace negotiations.
Pakistan condemns Israel’s latest military action of 28 March 2002, which is all the more condemnable in view of the Arab League Declaration offering Israel peace and security in exchange for its complete withdrawal from territories occupied since 1967. Pakistan has already welcomed the Beirut Declaration, which has also received the support of the international community.
Pakistan calls upon the international community to urge Israel to immediately halt its attack on the Palestinian Authority and resume peace negotiations.
