Indian Army Continues Unprovoked Shelling

Rawalpindi, May 21, 2002. Indian Army continued its indiscriminate and unprovoked firing and shelling across the Line of Control and working Boundary aimed at further escalating the already tense situation for the fifth day. Three more innocent civilians fell victim to Indian hostilities while twenty-one were injured.
Indian Army resorted to shelling and firing in sub-sectors Shahkot, Batal, Satwal and other areas close to the Line of Control. Two civilians embraced Shahadat and sixteen were injured.
Indian Army also continued targeting villages along the working boundary in Marala, Miraj Key and Shakargarh sub sectors and used automatic weapons recoilless rifles, mortars and rocket launchers causing destruction of property. One villager embraced Shahadat and five were injured.
The Pakistan Army retaliated and targeted the hostile Indian gun positions and bunkers causing considerable damage.
