Question # 1:

I am 26 years old and have dry skin. Should I start getting facials done? If yes, how often should facials be done?

A facial should begin at 25, as this is the time when the physiological aging of skin begins. Facial should be done once a month, especially for the women having dry skin. The skin retains its hydrolipidic balance by the creams used during the massage. The massage helps increase the blood supply, oxygen and other nutrients to the skin. A facial done once a month will keep your skin supple and looking healthy.

I am 27 years old. I have recently developed some white hard spots on my eyelids. I tried squeezing them, but they, unlike blackheads they cannot be squeezed out. What are these spots and how do I get rid of them?

The white spots on your eyelids are actually whiteheads or milia. They often appear in areas where the skin is dry. Whiteheads don't have openings, so they have to be pierced and their contents taken out. The sacs have to be then cauterized to prevent their recurrence.

Question # 3:
I am a 47-year-old woman. My problem is the white fleshy skin, I have around my eyes. Could you help me to get rid of this?

Your problem is known as xanthelasma in medical terms. Cholesterol deposits under the skin cause the fleshy skin around your eyes. It is, however, not always related to high serum cholesterol levels. Until recently chemical cauterization and plastic surgery could only treat them. These days, they can be easily treated with the use of ER YAG lasers, without the fear of scarring.

I am 18 years old having the following problems: Of late I have developed brown marks on my face, especially around my cheeks and nose. Can these be lightened? Whenever I come back after spending sometime in the sun, my skin feels dry and tired. How can I prevent this?

The brown marks are known as freckles and they usually run in families. Exposure to direct sunlight darkens them. You should, therefore, use a sunblock of SPF above 30. A person's face glows because of a healthy body and proper diet. Use a capsule containing an iron supplement as this peps up the skin and lightens dark circles. Packs made from crushed almonds, cucumber, honey and egg will also help in refreshing your skin.
