KING ABDUL AZIZ IBN ABDUL RAHMAN Al-Saud

The name of our house has been given due to His Majesty King Abdul Aziz Ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Saud. King Abdul Aziz was born in Riyadh in 1876. He spent much of his childhood out of Saudi Arabia living in Kuwait. At that time, the Saudi Arabia had been taken over by a tribe from Hail called the Rashids. However, he of ten dreamt of restoring the Royal family to the country in which he was born.

At the age of 21 he took advantage of a battle that was going on between the Kuwaitis and Rashids and he embarked on a series of surprise attacks to try and regain entry. His plan worked and he finally regained power as the cities of the country became under his control. Finally in 1932, he pronounced himself as "King of Saudi Arabia".

After becoming King, he spread the word of Islam through out the country. It was under the rule of King Abdul Aziz that the rules of Sharia – as revealed in the Qu’ran and Sunna – began to be established. He travelled widely within the country and soon he became a familiar face amongst the people.

The country he won was a poor and underdeveloped place without roads, ports and airports. It was a slow and painful journey to build up the development but in 1932, with the discovery of oil the country began to progress. The King Abdul Aziz began to form the country’s air force and set up media facilities, schools, hospitals, railways and telecommunication networks.

King Abdul Aziz was the first Islamic ruler to call for unity with in the Islamic World. It was King Abdul Aziz who convened the first Islamic conference in 1926.

King Abdul Aziz left this world on November 9, 1953. But, the world is still remembering him due to his great services for Saudi Arabia and the Islamic World.
