Farewell to Prof. Mohd. Wasil Usmani by

2001 - On last Thursday a hearty send off Moshaira probably the last one in the honour of Professor Wasil Usmani a writer of 18 books including two of his poetry books, poet and economist was arranged in the Mujbil Compound  Al-Khobar under the auspices of
Overseas Pakistani Writers Forum where several poets from Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Al-Hassa participated. The program was started with the recitation from the holy Qura'an and Syed Tariq sung the "Naat " written by Wasil Usmani. Professor Sahib presided the mehfil whereas another prominent Pakistani poet Hussain Sehar of Multan was the Chief guest at the farewell. Zain Siddiqi performed as stage secretary in the first phase of program and presented detailed introduction of Professor Wasil Usmani and his achievements not only in literacy but other field of economic and accountancy. 
The prominent Pakistani and Indian literary personalities shed light on the Wail's personality and achievements through their papers (Khakas). They all admired and praised not his personality but the literary work he has accomplished. They said the Eastern Province no doubt would miss Wasil Usmani. They included a prominent personality Shoeb Nigrami, Iqbal Qamar, Shahid Mahmood, and Khursheed Ahmed. Professor in reply to these papers thanked the Overseas Writers Forum for arranging such a wonderful mehfil and also thanked the persons who read papers for him. He said I am really moved with the love and thoughts you have expressed for me. Your feelings, your affections are the assets of my life and I will never forget them.  In the second part of program a
mehfil-e-Mushaira was held. Overseas Writers Forum's Iqbal Qamar performed as Nazim-e- Mushaira. The poets who recited their poetry included Professor Wasil Usmani, Hussain Sehar, Iqbal Qamar, Iqbal Fareed Maisori, Tariq Butt, Zain Siddiqi, Saeed Ahmed Muntazir, Tariq Mahmood, Naz Muzaffarabadi, Tariq Mahmood, Doctor Shakeel, On Friday an elegant send off luncheon was arranged in the honor of Wasil Usmani by Zain Siddiqi, Nazim Urdu Markaz, Eastern Province. Prominent Pakistani personalities including poets and writers mentioned above attended this luncheon at Marhaba, Al-Khobar. Mushir Ahmed and Saleem Dosani the college pupils of Professor Wasil Usmani also attended the luncheon. Outburst of emotions could be seen at this occasion when Wasil was saying goodbye to his friends, fellow poets, writers and pupils. |
