NEDIANS Annual Dinner 2001

The NED Engineers’ Forum (NEDFO), an alumni of the graduates of NED Engineering University including Dawood Engineering College of Karachi, has been arranging the annual gathering of the NEDians in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia since 1991. This year , the annual gathering took place on 30^th August 2001 at Marhaba Restaurant, Al-Khobar. It was attended by a considerable No. of NEDians with their families and some guests including two famous Urdu poets of Eastern Province, Mr. Zain Siddiqui and Ms. Rehana Roohi.  
The program was started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Master Sadeem Rizwan. Engr. Saeed Ahmed Khan, Social Secretary NEDFO, gave an introductory speech and invited Engr. Hussain Haider, President NEDFO, for the welcome address . Engr. Hussain Haider thanked the attendees for participating in the function , gave a brief description of the activities of NEDFO in Saudi Arabia since 1991 and highlighted the achievements of last year which included the holding of Technical Seminar on IT and e-Project Management and giving Scholarship to a full time MS student at N.E.D University, Karachi. He also requested the NEDians to come forward with any proposal for possible assistance to the University.   
.Engr. Jawaid Inam, General Secretary NEDFO,informed that funds have been raised by NEDFO to construct a Reading Room at the NED University Library and Engr Fareed Mustafa, a local member of NEDFO, has been entrusted with the task of getting quotations for its construction. He added that Engr. Fareed Mustafa has promised to arrange a donation of  computers for the said Reading Room. He also informed that Engr. Owais Abbas ex-NEDFO Office Bearer has created a website for NEDians which is: http://nedians.itgo.com  It is requested by all NEDFO members to visit the URL and signed the guest book and registered as a member. This URL is for the betterment of all NEDians in the Middle East.   
The most remarkable event in the program was the presentation of verses by Poet Zain Siddiqui and Poetess Rehana Roohi. who received tremendous applaud and appreciation from the audience and the gathering turned to be a Mahfil-e-Mushaira for some time.   
The enthralling Mushaira was followed by the Dinner consisting of delicious Pakistani dishes of Marhaba Restaurant. It has been a tradition of NEDFO to give some gifts in its Annual Dinner Program and so, this year too, the dinner  was concluded by giving some gifts by lucky draw.
