ORGANIZED A MEENA BAZAAR
KHOBAR MARCH 18, 1999
When cool weather of spring comes and children are free after examination there is an urge
in Pakistani Community to celebrate it. Pakistani Community Council took the initiative
and organized a Meena Bazaar at King Fahd Amusement Park on March 18, 1999.
Families started coming from 4.30 p.m. to enjoy rides, games and other entertainment
available at the Park. As time passed more and more people joined the crowd. Small
children, young boys and girls, men and women were busy enjoying rides, foods,
refreshments and each others company. Free food samples and T-shirts were being
distributed from various organizations. Variety of food and refreshment were available
including different types of Kababs, Chicken Tikka, Biryani, Haleem, Sweets, Paan just to
name a few. Other stalls included clothes, cassettes, preserved foods etc.
Mr. Aayaz
Ahmed, First Secretary, Pakistan Embassy kindly consented to be the Chief Guest of this
Function. He delivered a brief speech pointing out the special significance of this year
that March 23, 1999 and Hajj are coming together. Also Mr. Jawad Ali, Manager, Pakistan
International Airlines, Eastern Province joined Mr. Aayaz Ahmed as co-Chief Guest.
The highlight of the function was a raffle draw in which expensive items like Personal
Computer (PC), Television Sets, Return tickets to Pakistan, Food Processors, Watches and
other gift items were distributed by lucky draw.Some of the most active members who
devoted all their spare time in making this Meena Bazaar successful are Mr. Chaudhry
Zahoor-ul-Haq and Mr. Saleem Qureshi.
A Pakistani WebSite (contactpakistan.com) was introduced by Mr. Jawaid Inam of NED
Engineers Forum as a place where Pakistani Community can find items of interest and
entertainment . Flyers were distributed, to provide details about the site and how to
visit it.The function ended late in the night with happy note and without any unpleasant
incident.
