Irshad Kiyani Visited EP and met with Pakistanis Community
(Ishaq Rana Khobar March 29, 2002) Mr. Nadeem Irshad Kiyani, Community Welfare Attaché, Embassy of Pakistan visited Eastern Province and met with Pakistani community in different cities and provided them information regarding remittances to Pakistan and issuance of Silver and Gold Cards and facilities provided to overseas Pakistanis on possessing these cards. He said the remittances to Pakistan have increased 60%. He also listened to the questions and complaints of the Pakistani community on the matters related to embassy. He also informed the Pakistanis how the welfare section of embassy works for the betterment of Pakistanis. He said we take care of the diseased Pakistanis and make arrangements to send their corpses, visit prisons and look after the Pakistanis and negotiate with Saudi Government for their release. Also we visit the companies for Pakistani manpower supply. He said proudly that we have very cordial and brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia. The Servitor of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz and his Government love Pakistan and like Pakistanis. We the Pakistani also consider Saudi Arabia our second home. He advised the Pakistani that we should respect the law of land and will not do anything contrary to jeopardize our brotherly relations. He said last year 2000 Doctors and nurses arrived in the Kingdom.
He explained the advantages of remittances to Pakistan through legal channels.
If a Pakistani remits $2500 in a calendar year he gets the following facilities:
1. Separate counter facility at the airports
2. No fee is charged for issuance and renewal of passport
3. Increased of $700 in personal duty free allowance
If a Pakistani remits $10000 in a calendar year he gets the following facilities in addition to the above:

There was question
and answer session at the end in which many questions related to remittances
and other matters were asked. The most important question that was asked was
regarding the deadline of new computerized National I D cards. Mr. Kiyani
told Pakistanis that the old ID Cards would remain valid until new cards are
issued to overseas Pakistanis by NADRA. There is no deadline for them.
Embassy is already negotiating with Government in this connection.
