New Banks to Receive Hajj Applications
Islamabad, July 08, 2002. The Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr has allowed Bank of Punjab, Bank of Khyber, The Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank to receive Hajj applications in addition to the Banks already doing the same job for the last several years. It may be mentioned here that previously only five banks including Habib Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank, United Bank, Allied Bank and National Bank were to receive Hajj applications. But in order to facilitate intending pilgrims, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has increased the number of banks for receiving Hajj applications. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has provided sample of Hajj applications to all the authorized banks for printing by them. The Ministry has also directed the banks to insure availability of Hajj applications for the intending pilgrims three days earlier before the date of inviting Hajj applications, which is fifteen July 2002. The banks have also being directed to established its branches in each Haji Camp at gateways of Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar during pre-Hajj period and shall arrange issuance of Personal Exchange Quota to the pilgrims in a smooth and systematic manner.
