GARLIC BREAD |

- 1
French bread baguettes
- 1\2 cup butter
- 2-4 cloves minced garlic
- 1\4 cup powder Parmesan cheese
- 1\4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. oregano
- butter for spreading
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1. Slice the French bread diagonally into 3/4 inch
thick slices.
2. Place the butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, oregano and
minced garlic in a bowl and mix with a spoon until smooth.
3. Spread a thin layer of the butter on one side of
the slice and a thick layer of garlic mixture on the other
side.
4. Sprinkle mazzrolla cheese over the garlic mixture
and arrange the slices in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
5. Bake in a oven at 400F 200C) or mark 7 for 5-8
minutes or until edges turn brown. Turn on the top grill of
the oven and grill for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is
bubbly and slightly brown. This will make the bread more
crispy.
6. Serve immediately as a side dish with
Pizza and
Spaghetti.
7.If you REALLY love garlic, you could use freshly minced
garlic instead of garlic powder
If you are trying to move a
heavy object in the kitchen such as a
cooker or a washing machine, pour a little washing liquid on
the (tiled) floor; the machine will slip along easily.

Being born and raised up
in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia had left me, like other
numerous children quite distant from my own motherland,
Pakistan.
I remember as a child I hated going to Pakistan, because of
the fact that as soon as we landed I thought we were
deprived of the so called necessities but rather luxuries of
life, like the air conditioning and comfortable commute etc
and because of getting sick every time when we visited
Pakistan. As time passed and I reached my college years, I
started thinking positively about Pakistan. Over here I must
say that the environment and teachings of Pakistan
International School Riyadh plays an important role in
developing positive feelings in the students’ hearts about
their motherland. Time passed some more and it was time to
decide where to continue my higher studies after High
School. One of my brothers was living in USA at the time,
and invited me to go and complete my higher education from
there. At this point the thought that crossed my mind was
that if now I choose to go to Pakistan instead of anywhere
else, this might be the only chance I get to live among my
own people in my own homeland.
So I packed my stuff and I headed towards the city of
lights, Karachi. Of course in the beginning everything
seemed alien to me, and I am sure people around were
thinking the same about me. But soon I melted in my
environment and for the first time in my life I felt the
true sensation of full liberty and freedom, the one you can
only experience when you are in your own homeland, the
feeling of being the first citizen!
Thus during my four years of university, I came to like,
adore and finally fell madly in love with Karachi, with
Pakistan. Coming back after completing my studies was one of
the hardest things I had to do!
Now I just pray that may Allah protect our dear country
against all the evils and culprits of the current time and
may it prosper for the generations to come. (Amen)

Warning of
online drugs 'danger'

People who buy
medicines over the internet could be unwittingly putting
their health at risk, warn UK doctors.
Some drugs are fake and contain ingredients bearing
little resemblance to the medicine named on the bottle,
the Sunderland team told the Lancet.
Even if patients get the right drug, there is a risk of
unchecked side effects and dangerous interactions.
The team reports the case of a woman who damaged her
vision with oral steroids bought online from Thailand.
'Gamble'
Writing in the Lancet, the researchers said: "The
expansion of the internet is relentless and, from the
perspective of patients seeking information, in the main
positive. "However, the online availability of
controlled and uncontrolled drug therapies needs to be
carefully monitored." Mr Fraser added: "If you look
online it is extremely easy to get hold of anything you
like. Obviously, you do not need a prescription. "If you
are going to access medicines on the internet you are
gambling with your own health." He said doctors needed
to be more aware of the issue and to make sure that they
asked patients whether they were taking any medicines
purchased over the counter or online. A spokesman for
the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency
said: "Tackling the illegal sale and supply of medicines
over the internet is a priority for us.

Dear
Folks,
Summer vacations are coming to end and it is about time to
be back to school again. Hope you all utilized these
vacations and did not let the precious months go waste.
Our nation is celebrating our 59th Independence day on 14th
August 2006. It is the day when we feel proud of and
celebrate our victory in the struggle for independence. This
is a day of joy and happiness for all Pakistanis,
irrespective of where they reside, in Pakistan or abroad in
any part of the world. It is also a day on which we remember
our valiant leaders and forefathers who laid down their
lives to get a free homeland for us. We thank them by
remembering their great sacrifices and promising to commit
ourselves to the cause of Pakistan. On our independence day,
nation pays tribute to our brave soldiers and security
forces, thank them for their bravery and commitment, and
hope that they will continue to be alert in their service to
the nation. We all should thank Allah for giving us freedom
and liberty as a nation and reaffirm our commitment to make
Pakistan a strong nation dedicated to the ideals of peace,
security and economic development.
Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Freedom has its life in the
hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be
daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its
life-giving roots, it will wither and die.”To us our country
shall always come first. We shall be loyal to it all along,
wherever we are, whatever we do. Soon time will come when
you will be the ones in whose hands the country will be.
Remember wherever you serve, don’t forget your commitment to
your country.
Pakistan’s Independence Day for us, thus, shall not be a
celebration of Pakistan’s birthday, but also of the
principles underlying its struggle for independence.
