My parents brought some land in
Jhelum Pakistan around ten years ago. The have the deeds
relating to the land but apparently something called an 'Intiqal'
was not done. What is this? How can I get one done? My father
is
now traveling to Pakistan to sign over the land to my eldest
brother...my mother cant go due to health reasons....Would a
general Power of Attorney
(such as the one on your website) be enough to grant my father
power to sell the property on behalf of my mother?

Intiqal means
"transfer/mutation" in legal terms which confers title of
property to transferee/buyer of the property. Your parents
first should proceed with this legal mutation and when the
property is mutated in the name of the mother only then any
transfer of the said property can take place to your elder
brother. Power of attorney would be legal but first the
said property should be mutated in the name of your mother
who intends to transfer the property.

BAKLAVA |
|
-
400 g. packet filo pastry,
- 350 g. chopped pistachio nuts or walnuts
- 3 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. cardamom powder
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp.
rose water
- juice of half a lemon
1. Brush a
baking dish, the same size as the
pastry, with butter. Place 1 sheet of filo pastry in the dish.
Brush the pastry in the dish with
butter, then layer half of the filo sheets in this way.
2. Mix the nuts with sugar and cardamom powder and
spread this over the Filo Layers, then
cover with the remaining sheets, brushing butter between them
as before.
3. With a sharp knife, cut through the
layers into diamond shapes or squares.
4. Heat the butter, until very hot,
pour this evenly over the
pastry, the top layers will crinkle.
5. Bake at 375f (190C), mark 5 for 25-30
minutes, until golden brown. Leave
to cool for about 10 minutes.
6. To make the syrup,
Place water and sugar
in a saucepan over
high heat; bring to boil,
reduce heat to low and allow to boil for
5 minutes, removing the froth as it
appears. Add the lemon juice and leave to simmer for
5-8 minutes; add the rose water
and remove form heat. Keep aside to cool.
7. Pour the syrup evenly over the Baklava and cut into the
marks to separate the shapes.
Serves: 6
Dough sticking to the
rolling pin?

it in the freezer for a few minutes before using.

FISH OIL Hope
For Brest Cancer
|
A combination of the
fatty oils found in fish and a commonly used anaesthetic may
form the basis of effective new drugs to treat breast cancer.
Researchers from Indiana University
mixed compounds from omega-3 fatty acids with the anaesthetic
propofol.
Together they appeared to reduce the growth of breast cancer
cells, their ability to spread around the body and to form
secondary tumours. The research is published in the journal
Breast Cancer Research. The Indiana team studied the effect of
two omega-3 fatty acids - docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and
eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Both have a minimal effect on
cancer cells when applied alone. But the researchers combined
them with propofol, which was already known to inhibit cancer
cell migration in a limited way. They found that both the
propofol-DHA and propofol-EPA combinations had a much more
pronounced effect. Not only did they block cell migration and
the ability to adhere to potential new tumour sites, they also
triggered some cells to commit suicide. It is thought the
fatty acids help to increase the absorption of propofol by the
cancer cells. Lead researcher Professor Rafat Siddiqui said it
might eventually be possible to develop a patch or ointment
containing the combination drug. He told the BBC News website:
"We would like to synthesize these compounds in larger
quantities to use on animals in future studies so that we can
test their effectiveness as a potential anti-cancer drug.
Many benefits
Omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in oily fish such as
tuna, salmon, herring, sardines and mackerel, are already
known to have many positive health benefits.
They are commonly recommended for maintaining a healthy heart,
as they are known to reduce cholesterol levels. Research
suggests they may also protect against arthritis, lupus, and
asthma and help people with bipolar disorder. Dr Sarah
Rawlings, of the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said:
"The potential of mixing these two compounds to enhance their
anti-cancer properties is interesting. "However, this research
was carried out in cells and we don't yet know what the effect
will be in women with breast cancer."
Ed Yong, of Cancer Research UK, echoed those comments,
describing the findings as "promising".

Dear friends, as you must have made out from the poem
above that this article is a dedication to all the fathers in
the world for their unselfish devotion and care they show to
their children.
Mother and father have a special place in the life of every
person. Parents are indeed nature's unparalleled gift. No one
can take the place of them. Once a companion of Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) asked him, "Who am I most obliged to". The
Holy Prophet replied," Your mother" .He repeated the question
three times and each time the answer was same. When he
questioned again for the fourth time, Hazrat Muhammad
(p.b.u.h) replied, "Your father".
Parents give unconditional love and care to their children.
When their children are sick, they stay up all night stroking
the fevered brow of their sick child or putting cold pads to
lower his fever. Their pleasure in their children's happiness
is obvious. The hard toil of a father at workplace is just for
his family. He wants the best for them…best food, best
clothes, best education…everything that is best. And he puts
in all his efforts, sacrifice all his pleasures just, for the
comfort of his family. We shall we grateful to our fathers for
all this and much more. We cannot repay any of it. But we
have some things we can do to make them glad. It is our
happiness, our smiles, our achievements, our good manners that
are rewards they desire from their children.
All the four Holy books order mankind to show respect to
parents. In Quran, at many places, the worship of One Allah
Almighty and obeying parents have been said together, thus
emphasizing its importance.
All of us can do much to make our father feel happy. They
deserve it. When your father returns home after a weary day in
office, too tired…He opens the front gate to be greeted by his
children with their radiant smiles, his all day fatigue goes
off. And if he finds his children with a face without smile,
it would only add to his tiredness. So be ready to welcome
your father back home with a gleaming smile, nice grades etc.
Do not let your parents down by showing bad manners or other
deeds that can make their head stoop down. Make them proud of
