STUFFED MIRACH PAKORA

Basic batter
- 200 g. gram flour, sieved (besan)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1level tsp. bicarbonate of soda

- 1 level tsp. cumin seeds
- 2-3 drops of Yellow food color

- about 300 ml warm water

Ingredients for stuffing
- 6 large size green chilies
- 1 small onion, skinned and finely chopped
- 1 tbsp. tamarind juice
- 1 tsp. Red chili powder
- 1\2  tsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. pomegranate seeds, ground
- 2 tsp. chat masala

1. Place the gram flour and the remaining dry ingredients and food color in a bowl. Pour in the water gradually and beat to a smooth and thick paste. The consistency should be like thick pancake batter. Leave aside to rest for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile prepare the stuffing. Mix together the chopped onions, chili powder, salt, pomegranate seeds, chat masala and tamarind juice. Wash and pat dry the chilies. Make an incision on one side of the chili lengthwise and remove the seeds. Stuff each chili with good amount of stuffing and keep aside.
3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a karahai to smoking point, then reduce the heat to medium.
4. Dip each chili into the batter and coat it thoroughly with the better and then using your fingers lift it out of the batter and at once drop them into the hot oil. Be careful not to splash yourself with hot oil. Fry 2-3 chilies at a time. (Don't try to fry too many at a time.) Fry for a few minutes, then carefully turn them over. Fry the mirch pakoras for 5-8 minutes to a crisp golden color, drain thoroughly with a perforated slice. Then place them on absorbent kitchen paper.
5. Sprinkle with chat masala.
6. Serve with Nan, Podinay Ki Chutney and Sweet tamarind chutney

What's On The Label of a Medicine

Reading the product label is the most important part of taking care of yourself or your family when using over-the-counter (OTC) medicines (those that are available without a prescription). This is especially true because you probably take OTC medicines without first seeing a doctor. The OTC medicine label contains important, easy-to-read and understand usage and safety information.
All nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) medicine labels have detailed usage and warning information so consumers can properly choose and use the products. You'll find this information:

  • Active Ingredient. Therapeutic substance in product; amount of active ingredient per unit.

  • Uses. Symptoms or diseases the product will treat or prevent.

  • Warnings. When not to use the product; conditions that may require advice from a doctor before taking the product; possible interactions or side effects; when to stop taking the product and when to contact a doctor; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, seek guidance from a health care professional; keep product out of children's reach.

  • Inactive Ingredients. Substances such as colors or flavors.

  • Purpose. Product action or category (such as antihistamine, antacid, or cough suppressant.)

  • Directions. Specific age categories, how to take, how much, how often, and how long.

  • Other Information. How to store the product properly, and required information about certain ingredients (such as the amount of calcium, potassium, or sodium the product contains)

  • The expiration date, when applicable (date after which you should not use the product).

  • Lot or batch code(manufacturer information to help identify the product).

  • Name and address of manufacturer, packer, or distributor.

  • Net quantity of contents(how much of the product is in each package).

  • What to do if an overdose occurs.

The manufacturers of OTC medicines sometimes make changes to their products or labeling (new ingredients, dosages, or warnings).  Make sure to read the label each time you buy the product.  Always look for special "flags" or "banners" on the front product label alerting you to such changes.

HOW TO CUT AND PASTE?

A little computer tip for the novice. This is a basic and easy maneuver that is extremely helpful.
To cut and paste:
(1) select the text you want to cut or copy (e.g. block it out with your mouse)
(2) press CTRL-C to copy or CTRL-X to cut (this step saves the content to an unseen clipboard in the computer, saving the format as it appears in the program you copied or cut the text from). The difference between copying and cutting is that cutting has the effect of deleting the contents from the current program, but saves their content to be pasted elsewhere.
(3) insert your cursor where you wish to paste (insert) the text.
(4) press CTRL-V to paste the contents you just copied or cut. You are done.
Note: The contents will appear according to the formatting parameters of the new program into which they are copied. If they are more limited than the program from which you copied them, then some of the formatting will be lost, but the text will be the same. For example, if you copied the content from a web page, and the content included italics, bolding, and tables, when you paste this into Notepad, which only supports basic ASCII (typewriter characters only) text, then the bold, italics and table formatting will be lost. Hope this helps.

Did you try it?

Hypertension / Blood Pressure
A new study shows that having mild hypertension may actually help older people think more clearly. Researchers say that among the 495 elderly patients they studied, those with slightly elevated blood pressure performed the best on tests gauging memory, concentration, verbal fluency, and visual retention. Those with normal blood pressure levels performed the worst on all tests except for verbal fluency. All the patients were between ages 70 and 85

 DECIDE THAT YOU WILL
Though you're not yet sure exactly how you'll finish, go ahead and get started. Even the smallest amount of progress can motivate you to keep going. The big achievements begin with small achievements. And the small achievements come from making the initial effort. No matter where you intend to go, there is always a first step to be taken. Take that first step now. Nothing can equal the sense of accomplishment that comes from getting results. Though it's great to have faith that you can do it, it's even better when you know from your own experience. Action is what will transform your faith, your hopes, and your best intentions into real and desirable results. And now is the time to act. Take that first step, keep on going and don't look back. You can do it, when you decide that you will.

Pakistani Women’s Club “Pasta Fiesta” Contest
(Sabahat Siddiqui) Members of a Pakistani women’s club recently pulled another surprise by providing their skills on preparing Spaghetti and Macaroni dishes. They came out with 30 dishes, that was called “pasta fiesta” all decorated and decked with salad. The one-of-its-kind cooking show organized by Pakistan Ladies’ Club (PLC) held last weekend. For more than three hours the aroma of different dishes filled the Marriott Hotel’s first floor. More than 100 women representing high echelons of Pakistan community attended the show. For a while, one could mistake the 30-dish-pasta-fiesta to be in progress somewhere in Italy or Spaghetti-Macaroni eating countries. The dishes were arranged to donate the proceeds to Pakistan International School Jeddah (PISJ), tuition fees for the poor and needy students. Sadia Nadeem Anwar and Noshina Zahid were judged first and second winners respectively. Sadia said, “Women from our community need such kind of gatherings that can encourage them to compete at an international cooking competition.” She said the women cooked tasty food, using almost the same ingredients, but “the presentation made the difference indeed.” Participants were supposed to make salad arrangement in a record time of 30 minutes, and Shamim Shabbir, Noshina Zahid and Misbah Afzal were the first, second and third winners, respectively. Salma Khan, a senior educationist and Sectional Head in PISJ, conducted the competition. “Since the world has become a global village, people have crossed the geographical boundaries and no wonder the Italian dish pasta could make in roads in our region,” said Salma. On the occasion, Umm-e-Abdullah Emad Muhadib, Hala Barrak and Rozana Banawi, the Saudi guests enjoyed the event, especially “the competitive atmosphere.” PLC’s last program of flower arrangement was “highly successful” that encouraged them to organize further exclusive shows for needy “on regular basis.” The judges Naseem Yaqoob Mussani, Nuzhat Rafee and Dr. Shahenshah commented over the competition as “tough;” “It is difficult to decide, which one is the best.” Fatima Shehzad displayed was called “fantastic” and “fabulous” by the attendance. She had used pasta-made decorative items for kitchen equipment, appliances and home décor. Abida Akram’s vase and plate of pasta-origin was highly appreciated by all. It looked precious, as she had dyed it golden.
Rahila Zahid Nasrullah, wife of a Pakistani consulate official, said, “We all can see the effort of participants on the display table. It’s commendable. I learned varieties of pasta dishes from this show.”  Nasreen Yasin, PLC coordinator, said, PLC has been arranging fund-raising schemes for the last two decades. For this show, she said, the response in terms of funds and donations was “pretty good.” “Every time it is beyond our expectations.”  Nasreen said, “We really request our community to hold such gatherings so as we can utilize our talents for noble cause.” “Not only for the needy students of PISJ, have we asked our community to discuss with us their further problems. The club will try to settle-down their cases in terms of financial support.” Their next program would be a display of Pakistan-exclusive to promote “made-in-Pakistan” label. “As PLC is known for its unique ways to promote culture and community, we would continue with further innovative ideas to give women from all walks of life a platform,” Nasreen added. Sarah Khan, a PLC member, said, “Our community cooperates with us in such events. It gives PLC a back up to arrange further programs.”

DIET DURING RAMADAN
According to Sunna (the practices of Prophet Muhammad, Pbuh) and research findings referred in this report, a dietary plan is given:
1. Bread/Cereal/Rice, Pasta, Biscuits and Cracker Group: 6-11 servings/day;
2. Meat/Beans/ Nut Group: 2-3 servings/day.
3. Milk and Milk Product Group: 2-3 servings/day.
4. Vegetable Group: 3-5 servings/day;
5. Fruit Group: 2-4 servings/day.
6. Added sugar (table sugar, sucrose): sparingly.
7. Added fat, polyunsaturated oil 4-7 table spoons.

Breakfast, iftar:

Dates, three , Juice, 1 serving (4 oz.) , Vegetable soup with some pasta or graham crackers, 1 cup
The body's immediate need at the time of iftar is to get an easily available energy source in the form of glucose for every living cell, particularly the brain and nerve cells. Dates and juices are good sources of sugars.  Dates and juice in the above quantity are sufficient to bring low blood glucose levels to normal levels.  Juice and soup help maintain water and mineral balance in the body.  An unbalanced diet and too many servings of sherbets and sweets with added sugar have been found to be unhealthy.

Dinner:
Consume foods from all the following food groups:
Meat/Bean Group:
Chicken, beef, lamb, goat, fish, 1-2 servings (serving size = a slice =1 oz); green pea, chickpea (garbanzo, chana, humus), green gram, black gram, lentil, lima bean and other beans, 1 serving (half cup). Meat and beans are a good source of protein, minerals, and certain vitamins. Beans are a good source of dietary fiber, as well.
Bread/Cereal Group:
Whole wheat bread, 2 servings (serving size = 1 oz) or cooked rice, one cup or combination. This group is a good source of complex carbohydrates, which are a good source of energy and provide some protein, minerals, and dietary fiber.
Milk Group:
milk or butter-milk (lassi without sugar), yogurt or cottage cheese (one cup). Those who can not tolerate whole milk must try fermented products such as butter-milk and yogurt. Milk and dairy products are good sources of protein and calcium, which are essential for body tissue maintenance and several physiological functions.
Vegetable Group:
Mixed vegetable salad, 1 serving (one cup), (lettuce, carrot, parsley, cucumber, broccoli, coriander leaves, cauliflower or other vegetables as desired.) Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil or any polyunsaturated oil and 2 spoons of vinegar. Polyunsaturated fat provides the body with essential fatty acids and keto acids. Cooked vegetables such as guar beans, French beans, okra (bhindi), eggplant (baigan), bottle gourd (loki), cabbage, spinach, 1 serving (4 oz). Vegetables are a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin A, carotene, lycopenes, and other phytochemicals, which are antioxidants. These are helpful in the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and many other health problems.
Fruits Group:
1-2 servings of citrus and/or other fruits. Eat fruits as the last item of the dinner or soon after dinner, to facilitate digestion and prevent many gastrointestinal problems. Citrus fruits provide vitamin C. Fruits are a good source of dietary fiber.
Fruits and mixed nuts may be eaten as a snack after dinner or tarawiaha or before sleep.
Pre-dawn Meal (Sahur):

Consume a light sahur. Eat whole wheat or oat cereal or whole wheat bread, 1-2 serving with a cup of milk. Add 2-3 teaspoons of olive oil or any other monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats in a salad or the cereal. Eat 1-2 servings of fruits, as a last item.

QUESTIONS RELATED TO INVESTMENT IN PAKISTANI STOCK MARKET

Dear Sir, I am working as an Ops Manager in Riyadh, My monthly income is around 3,700USD$. I would appreciate if you provide me some information on how can I invest in Pakistan safely, which will give me a decent return on my investment. Best Regards - Malik Junaid

Junaid Bahi, Thank you, for your mail and question. Actually four type of investment can safely be possible in Pakistan;

1. Bank’s / Govt. Saving Schemes
2. Foreign Currency Investment
3. Stocks & Shares.
4. Property / Land.

This all depends upon your need and requirement also the amount available for investment. We suggest you that your investment should be diversified. So it would be appropriate if you could have 25% in each category. For the moment we are specifically giving guidelines and advice in Pakistani Stock and Shares as this field is highly technical, rest three categories are simple and every layman can do with there on choice by doing comparison. So we can guide you more in Stocks if you have interest.

Ten Things We Waste
(based on a lesson of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah)
Haseeb Ahsan, Jeddah

1. --Our Knowledge-- Wasted by not taking action with it.
2. --Our Actions-- Wasted by committing them with out sincerity.
3. --Our Wealth-- Wasted by using on things that will not bring us ajr. We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in akhirah.
4. --Our Hearts-- Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allah, and the feeling of longing to go to Him, and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it's place, our hearts are filled with something or someone else.
5. --Our Bodies-- Wasted because we don't use them in ibadah and service of Allah
6. --Our Love-- Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allah, but towards something/someone else.
7. --Our Time-- Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds
8. --Our Intellect-- Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are detrimental to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection.
9. --Our Service-- Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah, or benefit in dunyaa
10. --Our Dhikr-- Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts.

ON SPEAKING TRUTH
Assalam-o-Alikum

Hope that you are availing the maximum benefits of this blessed month of Ramzan and praying for
Allah Almighty's blessings and forgiveness. May Allah help us and bless us all in this Holy month and all year through.
From Holy Qur’an, we come to know that purpose of fasting is to gain “Taqwa”, that is fear from Allah’s resentment. Those who fear Allah, avoid committing anything against His commandments. Rather their aim is to please Allah and get closer to Him.
Allah instructs us to speak Truth. We often find ourselves in the position where we wish to tell lie and save ourselves from a situation we do not wish to face…which might include telling lie to teachers, parents etc. We commit something wrong when our parents or teacher etc. was not there. And now by telling a lie we feel we might escape their scolding but Allah was there when wrong was committed and Allah is here too. Allah would know that of the lie spoken. So by telling lie may be, one would escape a little scold from parent or elder. But Allah knows and one day we have to answer Him for all what we did.
Hazrat Kaab Bin Malik (R.A) is one of the companions of Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). When Prophet set out for Ghazawa-e-Tabook, Kaab Bin Malik (R.A) and few others stayed behind because of their laziness. When Prophet (p.b.u.h) returned back to Madina from Tabook, the men, who had stayed behind without solid genuine reasons, came up to him and made lame excuses and told lie. Hazrat Kaab Bin Malik (R.A) came up to the Prophet’s and said that “I could tell lie and get myself excused. But then I would be committing another wrong. It is better that I tell truth and face little of  annoyance that as a result you will have for me...but I hope that Allah will forgive me for telling truth.” Allah accepted his “tuba” (repentance) and of other two companions who told truth. Those who had lied to Prophet were said to be “Munafiq” and are promised a dreadful punishment in hell. (Reference: Surat Tuba)
Moulana Abdul Qadir Jillani is a famous religious scholar. His mother told him never to tell lie for Allah does not love those who tell lie. As a young boy, he was sent far off to get religious education. On the way, robbers ransacked the troop with which he was traveling. The robbers came up to the little boy, and asked if he had anything. He said yes and showed them where his mother had sewed the money in the pocket. The robbers were surprised to hear this from young boy as he could have easily escaped the loot by telling lie, as they expected least that this boy would be carrying any treasure. They took him to their leader. The leader asked the boy why he told the truth when he could have easily lied. Moulana Abdul Qadir Jillani, the young boy, replied that “my mother has told me to always say truth”. The robber’s leader said that you could have lied as your mother is not here with you and she would have not known. Moulana replied “But Allah is everywhere…” The robber’s leader was impressed that this boy, who is so younger than me, fears Allah and he is so obedient to his mother. I being so big am not obedient to Allah. So he and other robbers made tuba and returned the loot.
So dear ones always tell and appreciate truth as it is a great virtue. You are saved when from lot of tensions by telling truth because often for one spoken lie, you have to speak many more. As Mark Twain said: “If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything."  And remember, “A single lie destroys a whole reputation of integrity."
