Make that winning cover letter!
Asalaam u aleikum Brothers and Sisters!
I have read many cover letters and it never ceases to amaze me how errors of a simple nature are so prevalent.
A poor cover letter leaves many negative professional attributes in the mind of the employer. Some of these include poor presentation ability, unorganised, lack of intelligence and so on.
Lets make sure you do not fall into these categories and the objective of your cover letter, which is to get the interviewer to say YES to the question: ‘Should I bother to read this persons CV?’ is affirmative.
The cover letter should be Short, Sweet and Succinct. It should be no more than a page.
Follow these 4 principles and you will not fail to impress:
(i) Grab the attention – Presentation is everything. Use quality paper with matching envelopes. Go for it. Briefly explain why you are writing? If you saw an advert, state where you saw it.
(ii) Create interest - Address the reader by name. Please note, do not write ‘To whom it may concern’, as whom is never concerned! Direct and relevant approach is required. Explain briefly what you have to offer?
(iii) Now turn interest into desire – First make a connection to the work area. Describe your merits with a short paragraph about your achievements.
(iv) Desire into action – This is where you need to make the reader want to swiftly move to your CV. Leave the reader wanting more. You need to encourage a decision, i.e. I feel certain that I can contribute and that you will allow me to convince that I can and so on.
Be bold and go for it. Ask for the interview and even suggest some days. What have you got to lose? Be different from the others. The employer will take note and you will leave a more impression in his/her mind.

So remember the following:

Get the name of the person you are addressing correct.
         Spell correctly.
Tailor the letter to the job offer.
Include a date and return address.
Something else which is forgotten, when one writes to a specific person, you must end the letter ‘Yours sincerely’. Remember ‘Yours faithfully’ is used when addressing sir/madam.
You have made that winning CV by now coupled with the winning Cover Letter. Now the hurdle which a lot of people find most daunting, the Interview!
In my final article, I will be giving you tips and tricks on how to deal with interviews, right from planning to the close.
Best of luck as always.
Wa Salaam

Caring for an infant's teeth

Cleaning a child's teeth should begin when the first tooth is visible, because teeth are susceptible to decay as soon as they appear in the mouth.
Wipe the baby's teeth and gums clean after every feeding with a soft, damp washcloth or gauze pad. A leading cause of tooth decay among young children is known as "
baby bottle syndrome." When an infant is allowed to drink from a nursing bottle containing milk, formula or fruit juice during nap time or at night, the baby often falls asleep with the bottle in his or her mouth. Exposure to the sugars and acids in these liquids that pool around the teeth can cause discoloration and decay.Since breast milk contains sugar, decay also can occur when a baby falls asleep while breast-feeding. To prevent damage to the teeth, clean your child's teeth after each feeding and, if necessary, give him or her a bottle filled only with water at bedtime or during a nap. Fluoride and eating habits are key to healthy teeth Studies have shown that children who drink fluoridated water from birth have up to 65 percent fewer cavities, and by the time they become teenagers, many of them still have no tooth decay.
If you live in a community without a fluoridated water supply, you can make sure your kids get their fluoride by using tablets, drops or gel and by having topical fluoride treatments applied at the dental office (to check whether your drinking water contains fluoride, call your local water company or health department). Using a fluoride toothpaste and mouth rinse is also effective.
A balanced diet is also an important contributor to healthy teeth and gums. Children especially need calcium, which helps build strong teeth. Good sources of calcium are milk, cheese and yogurt. Research shows that eating cheese after meals seems to inhibit the effects of decay-causing acids. Avoid snacks containing sugar or starch.
By age 3

Children should be brushing their own teeth under adult supervision. Only a pea-sized amount of toothpaste is necessary. Start flossing your child's teeth daily when all the primary teeth are in or when teeth are touching each other.
By age 8
Children should be able to brush and floss by themselves, with occasional checks. Turn brushing and flossing into a daily routine-make it fun by giving your child a colorful toothbrush and bubble gum-flavored floss.

SALAM Contact Pakistan's Community. Hopefully you all there will be fine. In this issue I bring a very common problem , which is mostly strikes on aged peoples , but younger persons may experience same problem. Sometimes you feel that some dots or some flies are flying in your eyes , in fact these are just floaters. Floaters are an appropriate name for these small dark shapes that appear before your eyes, because of float in center of your vision you feel discomfort particles are  flying. These spots may look like dots, squiggles, strands or any of a hundred other shapes. Though annoying, floaters are harmless. Over 50% of people over 60 years of age report seeing floaters. Most floaters are age-related. Other spots can be caused by little bits of protein trapped within the eye during pregnancy. Or Trauma to the eye which  breakdown of the gel which is present  inside of our eye {vitreous humour} may also cause spots and floaters. Many floaters remain in the eye for long periods of time but they gradually disappear. we believe chronic stress in person's  life may also play a role in the generation of floaters, so having a daily routine of relaxation and meditation is very important.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  People who are very nearsighted and / or diabetic are particularly prone to floaters. If you have a sudden increase of floaters , then take it serious.

Treatment :
There is no specific treatment for floaters. In very severe cases, the doctor may change the original gel from an artificial gel.

For now that's all , till next issue ALLAH HAFIZ

AROMATHERAPY - Natural Healing TEA TREEE - Essential Oil
Tea Tree essential oil is an exceptionally powerful antiseptic, being 12 times as strong as carbolic acid, according to a research conducted by Dr. Penfold in 1923. Also rated extremely effective against bacteria, virus and fungus, in 1933, the British Medical Journal, declared it to be a powerful non toxic, non-irritating disinfectant. “During the Second World War, Australian soldiers were issued with first aid kits containing Tea Tree oil. Medics poured the oil directly into wounds to disinfect them and speed healing without damaging the surrounding tissues. The Australian government regarded Tea Tree oil as such an important contribution to the war effort that workers employed in producing it were exempt from military duty” (credit: Roberta Wilson, Aromatherapy for Vibrant Health & Beauty).
Tea Tree and Lavender are the only two essential oils in Aromatherapy that are safe enough to be used neat on the skin. Neat, spot application to cuts, wounds, acne, abscess, athlete’s foot, herpes, lesions, insect bites, diabetic gangrene and ringworm, helps bring miraculous healing. Tea Tree oil when diffused, by itself or together with Lavender essential oil, offers an excellent preventative measure for air borne infections.
In recent years, a lot of beauty products containing Tea Tree essential oil, are re-surfacing on the market shelves and Tea Tree is fast becoming a popular essential oil. It is an invaluable tool for fighting scalp dandruff and that is why it is a very successful ingredient for hair oils. It is also an excellent remedy for oily skin and acne, so if you are troubled with these, go for creams, masks and face washes containing Tea Tree essential oil.

: Keep away from the reach of children, preferably use diluted in a carrier oil, do not take internally, may irritate sensitive skin, avoid neat overuse, best to use under qualified supervision.

RECIPE FOR MOUTH GARGLE (SORE THROAT): Fill a mug with very warm (tolerable) water. Add 1/4th tsp table salt and two drops of Tea Tree essential oil. Gargle three times a day until needed, do not swallow.

An alkaloid (C8H10O2N4H2O) found in coffee, tea, cacao, and some other plants. It is also present in most cola beverages. Caffeine was discovered in coffee in 1820. In 1838 it was established that theine, discovered in tea in 1827, is identical to caffeine. The drug increases the blood pressure, stimulates the central nervous system, promotes urine formation, and stimulates the action of the heart and lungs. Caffeine is used in treating migraine because it constricts the dilated blood vessels that are believed
to be involved in the causation of migraine. It also increases the potency of analgesics such as aspirin, and it can somewhat relieve asthma attacks by widening the bronchial airways. Caffeine is produced commercially chiefly as  a by-product in making caffeine-free coffee. Caffeine has been suggested as a possible cause of cancer or of birth abnormalities. No studies, however, have yet confirmed any of these charges. People who stop drinking coffee do sometimes experience withdrawal headaches.

 You Are Being Watched
Dear friends, hope that you people are in the pink of your health.
This time I am penning down a thought-provoking article. We all know that Allah Almighty, our Creator, is everywhere. In Ayat-ul-Qursi, it is said that Allah never sleeps nor ever yawns. He is “AlBaseer” that is all-seeing. He can see the black ant, creeping in dark night, in dark jungle, beneath the black stone. He is watching all of us and His other creations, all the time. We do believe in it but do our actions support are faith?
My friend working in an educational institute related me her experience. She said that the management of the school thought of putting up cameras for monitoring students and teachers. The cameras were installed in each classroom, corridors and playgrounds. The day the cameras started working, there was more discipline observed. Students remained silent and attentive during lectures. There was no bullying in playgrounds. Teachers taught with more consciousness and avoid fleeing from classes to chat with next-door class teacher. Why was this so? Because everyone knew they were being watched.
Following is the gist of another inspirational article. The author had written how his  stroll in store was changed when he knew there were surveillance cameras on store’s roofs. In older times there were many helpers in stores whose job was not only to price merchandise, stock the shelves and help customers but also to make sure that the customers pay for what they take and not steal. These days most modern stores do not have assistants watching customers. How do they then keep people from stealing them blind and pocketing any number of tempting items? Surely nature of people has not changed over time. They stole then and they steal now. Also businessmen could not and does not trust people. The scientific curiosity of the writer forced him to look out for possible ways that store might be using to keep a watch. And when his eyes rose to roof he got the answer as he saw rows and rows of surveillance cameras mounted behind blue colored domes.
They are powerful cameras that don’t let you see in but the camera can see out, in any direction and can be zoomed in or out. He says that after that he walked differently although he had no intention of ever doing anything wrong, with or without cameras. As he says, “I just walked differently knowing that someone could be watching every single move that I made. It shouldn't have made a difference. But it did.”
There are “Eyes” from above that watch every move of those below. Yet we walk without realizing that every move of ours is being observed and recorded. We will be questioned for each word uttered and very action performed. We often go through life as if no one is seeing us, as if we are not being watched. If we realize it what miracles would happen! The grimaces and frowns, the spoken harsh words and wrong deeds would go away and our world would become a better place.
Dear friends, realize the fact that there are Eyes from above, encased in a blue canopy that are watching every move of those below, all the time. Once we comprehend this, we will find ourselves turned into better and more responsible person.
That’s all friends. Till we meet next. Allah Hafiz Ms. Amna Tariq Makkah
