Keema bhari shimla mirch
Stuffed Green Pepper |
|
- 4-6 bell peppers
- 50 g. parmesan cheese, grated
For The Filling::
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 large onion
- 1 tsp. garlic paste
- 1\2 kg. lean minced beef
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. flour
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire or soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. tomato ketchup
- 2\3 cup stock or water
- 1 tsp. red chilli
- salt and pepper according to taste
1, Select squat round pepper that
will stand upright. Using a small sharp knife, cut round the
stem of each pepper. Draw it out, together with the seeds from
inside.
2. Place the pepper together in a bowl. Cover with boiling
water and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Then drain the peppers
upside down and set aside while preparing the filling.
3. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the chopped onions and fry
for few minutes until soft but not brown.
4. Add mince meat and garlic to the onions. Continue to fry
until the meat is well browned
5. Chopped the tomatoes and add to the meat. Sprinkle in the
flour and stir thoroughly.
Add Worcestershire sauce, tomato ketchup, salt, chilli powder,
pepper, and stock or water. Stir over low heat for about 5
minutes or until sauce is thick.
6. Spoon the meat mixture evenly into the peppers. Arrange the
peppers in a well buttered oven proof dish. Sprinkle the top
of each pepper with parmesan cheese.
7. Add about 3 tablespoons of water to the dish.
8. Place the dish in the centre of a oven at 350F and cook for
35-40 minutes. Serve hot.

Long working
hours
'health risk'
Working
long hours can greatly increase the risk of suffering injury
or illness, a study says
|
Workers
who do overtime were 61% more likely to become hurt or ill,
once factors such as age and gender were taken into account.
And working more than 12 hours a day raised the risk by more
than a third, the University of Massachusetts found. A 60-hour
week carried a 23% greater risk, the study of US records from
110,236 employment periods found.
The study looked at data from 1987 to 2000. An
employment period relates to the time a person spent at one
firm. Counting this way meant some individuals might have been
covered by the research more than once.
Report co-author Allard Dembe said risk was not necessarily
associated with how hazardous the job was. "The results of
this study suggest that jobs with long working hours are not
more risky merely because they are concentrated in inherently
hazardous industries or occupations. "Our findings are
consistent with the hypothesis that long working hours
indirectly precipitate workplace accidents through a causal
process, for instance, by inducing fatigue or stress in
affected workers." And he said the findings, published in the
Occupational and Environmental Health journal, supported
initiative such as the 48-hour European Working Time Directive
to cut the number of working hours. From the records,
researchers found 5,139 work-related injuries and illnesses,
ranging from stress to cuts, burns and muscle injuries.
Overtime risk
More than half of these injuries and illnesses occurred in
jobs with extended working hours or overtime. The researchers
concluded that the more hours worked, the greater the risk of
injury.
But they did not find that lengthy commutes to and from work
had any impact on illness and injury.
In the UK 14% of the working population - 3.6m - work more
than 48 hours a week.Paul Sellers, a policy adviser at the
Trade Union Congress, said the findings were unsurprising.
"It is clear that working long hours is not good for you. And
what is important to realise that it is not fair on other
people.
"If you are involved in an accident whether at work or because
you are tired from work it can involve other people."In the UK
the situation is gradually getting better, but employers need
to realise it is in their interests not to push people into
working long hours.
"Often it is the case of a workplace not being organised
properly that people work long hours."

Dear Sir Assalam O
Allakum,
Hope to find you in the best of health and life. I will
directly come to my question:
I am residing in Dammam (KSA) and I want to open a bank
account in Pak and to deal with some property matters while
still remaining here, because unfortunately due to my job
reservations I am unable to go to Pakistan for some period of
time. Before sometime I read in some edition of Contact
Pakistan that such matters can be solved by issuing a General
Power of Attorney in some one's name (who is in Pak and who
can act in such matters on your behalf). Right now my question
is, how can i have such Power of Attorney and which are the
offices from where i have to attest and then send to
Pak.
Thanks for your precious time. Ilyas Ahmed Dammam -
KSA+966-502-893-892
I advise that Power of attorney may be
got attested by Pakistan embassy from Riyadh or Jeddah and
that would be adequate and legal. But you better seek legal
assistance as each Power of attorney with different types of
property have to be incorporated in the said Registered Power
of attorney differently, depending on the circumstance of the
case and choice of parties. You need not come and expenses of
travel would be saved. If you authorize a Lawyer also, it
would surely safeguard the interests of the parties. Such a
lawyer would protect against the misuse of the Power of
attorney by the attorney as you would be away from the place
of transaction taking place in Pakistan.

The Terrible Plague
Written By: Syeda Amna Zubia, 9, Y4, P.I.S.J. (E.S.)
The
Great Plague arrives in London in 1665 and people are dying in
vast numbers each day. Every night I hear, in bed, that the
carts are taking bodies of for burial. But, thanks to God, my
family is safe. I feel good and whenever I walk in the streets
for groceries, I look around and thank God my family is safe.
I went to the shop for bread. There I saw that were not
shaking hands. Infact, they were not even going close to each
other. When I try to pay for the bread, the shopkeeper didn’t
take it. He tells me to put it in a bowl of vinegar. I heard
lots of stories about the plague. Some said it is caused by
bad air. Some said it is the side effect of living together.
There were lots more.
When I went home I found that
one of my relative has got the plague. At first she has high
temperature. Then she has a lot of headaches. We burn tar in
the house to avoid the plague. I feel very sorry for her.
When we called the doctor, he
came immediately. He looked strange in his outfit. His outfit
had a beak with herbs and spices inside it. It made me think
of a bird. He advised us to give her medicines for headaches
and temperature.
My relative got better. He
didn't get the spots all over the body. He recovered a lot and
wasn't having any more temperatures and headaches. We aren't
worried any more for him, but the people who have the plague,
we are. Last week an old man's young son and daughter died,
and even his wife! I thank God my relative is better and my
family is safe. |

For Whom We Do?
Hello Young fellows. Hope you are in pink of your health.
Getting along with our topic this time…We sometimes get hurt
when we do no wrong to others but get ill treated by them. At
such times, the feeling of despair prevails on us. Sometimes
the friends we think we are so close to might turn down with
show of insincerity. A school boy of forth grade returns home,
heart broken and relates to his mother how his best friend had
cheated on him. "Mom, I had helped Ali with the problems he
was having in essay assignment. I went out of the way to make
him grasp the tips. But today when we were asked to hand over
our assignments, I did not my find mines in my bag when I had
made sure I place it there last night. I had to face the
teacher's wrath and when the homework was returned after being
marked, I was shocked to see my work in Ali's hand." Similar
story …a ten year old girl tells her elder sister, "Baji, my
friend Lina asked me to let her cheat in the test today and
when I refused; she openly accused me of being selfish. I feel
so sad, as I had been always so kind with her and helped her
with the lessons". The above scenes are common. All of us get
hurt when we wish good for others but are not paid the same
way.
In anguish, we sometimes plan not to do good again and
ill-feelings for others start to breed in our desolated
hearts. But this is not the right course to take. The right
way will be to change our view. We do good not to get good
from others, though it is but human nature to expect good
being returned for good. We shall do all for the sake of
Allah. All our actions shall be to make Allah happy. Our
fellow feelings, or kindness, our generosity, forbearance
shall all be not be to merely hear good comments from people
or get same in return, but because Allah wants us to be good
to His creations. This motivation will not only convince us to
be good to all, irrespective of our relation with him/her, but
it will also fetch us high reward from Allah as God Almighty
sees our intentions. If we do it for Him, we will get
blessings from Him. If we do for others then we will be asked
to go to that person or thing for which we did the act for.
When we start doing "All for Allah" we will find ourselves not
hurt by other's ill dealings. See for example, you help your
needy friend financially or with her academic problem, not
with the intention that she shall also do the same for you but
you do it for Allah. If later, you need her help but she walks
out on you, you will not be as hurt which other wise you might
have thinking I helped her and she has turned me down.
Rather you will console yourself that your good act was for
Allah and it will be rewarded if no here then Hereafter.
Leaving you with worth remembering words from Mother Teresa,
If you are kind,
People may accuse
You of selfish motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are honest and frantk,
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
It is between you and God;
It never was between you and them anyway.
