Chatpaty Chana Dal

-.2 cups chana dal 2 cups
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp. red chili powder 1 tsp.
- 1 large onion 1 large chopped
- 1\2 cup oil
- 1 tsp. whole white
- juice of 2 lemons
for garnishing
green chilies, fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves all chopped, and lemon slices.

1. Wash and soak the lentil for 2-3 hours in plenty of water.
2. Chop the onion and fry in hot oil, till pinkies in color. Add whole cumin and fry for another minute.
Then add chana dal, salt, red chili powder and mix well. Pour enough water just to the lentil by 1 inch. Cover and cook on medium fire first and then on slow fire, until all the moisture has evaporated.
3. Add lemon juice and mix. Pour in a serving dish and garnish with coriander, green chilies, mint and lemon slices.
