Shalgum Gosht
Turnip With Lamb


- 500g Bhuna Gosht
- 500g turnips (shalgum)

- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 green chilies
- 1 tsp. gram masala
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped coriander leaves





1. Peel the turnips and cut them into thin slices. Wash the turnips with cold running water and place  them in a plenty of cold water.
2. Prepare Bhuna Gosht, add turnips and sugar. Cook for few minutes, stirring all the time. Add 3-4 cups of water and bring to boil. Reduce the heat to medium, cover the pot with a tight fitting lid. Cook for 20- 25 minutes or until the turnips are well cooked and have absorbed the sauce. Mash the turnips with a potato masher or with the back of a wooden spoon against the side of the pan. Cook for few minutes more.
3. Transfer the turnips to a serving dish, sprinkle with the garam masala, finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and green chilies
4. Serve with white boiled rice or Paratha
