Abdul Sattar Edhi is striving continuously to give the people a badly needed welfare system to alleviate human suffering.A living legend…an example of devotion…an inspiration. EDHI is a mobile institution ready to respond…anxious to comfort and console the anguished souls.

Endurance, perseverance, patience, struggle, sympathy and compassion along with the sacrifice of his personal comforts, are the important elements on which rests the philosophy of Abdul Sattar Edhi.
Sometime it happens that a fortunate combination of the national situation and personal characteristics produce an individual with a capacity to understand the welfare of the sick, weak, the destitute and needy and respond to this challenge. Such an individual in the case of PAKISTAN is Abdul Sattar Edhi, the Founder of EDHI FOUNDATION.
The ContactPakistan Team entrusted me with the task of interviewing Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi. Despite several attempts to see him in person during my vacation in Karachi, he could not give me an appointment. However, he sent me to see Mr. Faisal Edhi at the Edhi Foundation Head Office at Boultan Market, Mithader, in Karachi.
Mr. Faisal Edhi provided me lot of written material, which I could use in developing profiles of the Edhi Foundation and Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi for ContactPakistan along with pictures. However, I was determined to see this great social worker in person in order to get a first hand feel of the subject.
And so it happened! Early this year, when I was coming back to Saudi Arabia from my vacation, I went to Karachi Airport a few hours earlier, offered my magrib (evening) prayer and then went to call home on a public telephone. As I finished my call and turned back, I saw to my complete surprise Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi sitting right in front of me alone. I immediately introduced myself and mentioned to him that CP Team wanted to project him at the International Level. A down-to-earth man, Mr. Edhi does not hanker for publicity or promotion of any kind. Anyway, we dwelt on various subjects.
