Riyadh - As per their usual support to the sporting activities in the Kingdom as well as back home in Pakistan, the management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) led by their area manager Central province, Tajammul Karim, honored its team members on their last success in winning the Riyadh Cricket League Cup 40-overs tournament.
The colorful gala began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Abdul Majeed at the Marhaba restaurant banquet hall. The club secretary Naseem Ahmed and captain Fazalur Rahman Ansari introduced all players and highlighted their collective as well the individual achievements, which kept the PIA reputation high.
Chief guest Pakistan embassy deputy head of mission, Muhammed Shoukat Haroon - himself a lover of the game, Tariq Javed, former RCL chairman and Canadian international World Cup player alongwith Karim awarded cricket kits and bags which were specially made with the airline logo from Pakistan for its winning team members. crick3PIA’s Aslam Malik, Muhammed Waseem, Mannan Waheed and Habibullah Baloch also assisted them during the prize giving ceremony.
Speaking on this occasion, Haroon praised the airline cricket club for maintaining the unity and sportsmanship, which is an example for the others. He praised the captaincy of Ansari and his handling the affairs of the team.
The airline area manager highlighted the role that PIA has played in the sporting world be it inside the Kingdom or outside. He stressed upon players that they are serving as the ambassador of the airline and should always remain sincere to the cause.
Muhammed Khalid, Manzoor Butt, Dilawar Mirza, Saleem Javed performed well on the batting front while as for the bowling, Ansari and Zafar Abbas proved a success. Wicketkeeper Rehan did well behind the stumps, taking twelve catches. Zahoor Butt, Barkat, Shahab and K. H. Mir were quick on the field.
At this jubilant occasion, a special shield prepared by the airline cricket club was presented to Karim by chief guest Haroon. Ansari handed over a cricket kit to the chief guest for being a member of the club.

In his winding up speech after the dinner, Ansari thanked the chief guest, the airline area manager, other invited notables, all sponsors and the players for making this evening a success.
