RIYADH, Sept. 19, 2000 The top of the table Sheraton Fila Ace and
the Spice Boys, just trailing them behind, continued the onslaught by maintaining their
positions at the top as the end of the double round robin elimination gets closer in the
Sheraton Fila Dart2K tournament.
Into its sixth week thrilling
action, the Ace after suffering a sorry loss to Aphidech Group two weeks ago, scored a
twin-kill anew against the Iskan Knights and Four Seasons Furniture with scores of 11-4
and 15-0 respectively. These victories gave them the highest card at 13 wins and one loss,
for a total of 162 points.
Once a leader after the Aces loss to Aphidech, the Spice Boys suffered their second
loss by bowing to Casper and gave the lead back to Ace. They however, maintained a 12-2
card behind Ace by scoring 13-2 win over the Shifa Intruders followed next by a 14-1
victory over the Saudi Ericsson.
Casper kept their position at the third slot with a 12-3 win/loss record after devastating
wins over Kingdom Corner and Aphidech. The Saudi Ericsson displayed a superpower in the
first game and scored a 10-5 against Striker Point but failed to repeat against the heavy
Spice Boys in their second encounter. The Knights, after losing to Ace in the first game,
triumphed 11-4 over the Striker Point in their second clash.
Ace will now go up against Casper this Friday as the struggle for the first three
positions goes into thrilling stage. The Ace loss will do a favor to the Spice Boys before
the two leaders will met next week for their second round encounter. The Aphidech is
placed fourth but far a threat to the leaders standing at 8-6 win/loss record with only
four games to go for the elimination round.
The top team of the elimination round will automatically clinch the first final berth
while the rest will contest for the second slot through a tough step-ladder one-loss
knockout format.
Lito Javier of the Four Seasons Furniture produced another Ton80, his fourth this league
along with Fred Torres of the Ace, Jun Cabaltera and Ely Martos of the Spice Boys. Emil
Lindo of Aphidech delivered the days least dart by finishing 501 by 17 dart off Fred
Villapando of the Four Seasons.
The event, which is contested by ten teams, is organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi
Arabia (EDSA), a prime association of dart enthusiasts based in the capital city. It is
being hosted by Sheraton Riyadh hotel and towers.
