RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, November 14, 2000 - At the end of its thrilling
second week action, El Seif I scored a stunning victory over Spice Boys I in Division A
while in the Division B, Intruder Strike and the Conquerors continued their winning march
in the Power Darts 2000 being played at the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel and Towers bowling
alley.
Having beaten by the strong Ace Power Horse in the first game via a decision match 6-9, El
Seif managed to survive a come from behind win against the top rated Spice Boys I with the
surprise presence of the former Ace darter Wily Paz who proved to be a moral booster for
his side. The losers swept into a 6-2 commanding lead until the first doubles but bowed
down in the last two doubles to draw level at 6-all. This gave the winners a chance for a
clincher in their team match to win in the end 9-6. Sharing 2-1 win/loss record, Spice
Boys still occupies the top position with two points difference (27-25).
Ace, who collected their first triumph over Seif, went down fighting to Spice Boys 8-7.
The latter dominated in the singles for favorable 4-2 lead but trouble haunted them in the
doubles. They now share an even 1-3 win/loss card with the Spice Boys II after three
games. On the other hand, the Spice Boys I gave no chance to their sister team Spice Boys
II in a no match contest, demolishing them by 13-2.
In Division B, Intruder Strike and the Conquerors continued the onslaught, winning their
two matches and maintaining their positions at 3-0 win/loss record as the end of the
single round robin gets closer. In the first game, the Intruders down El Seif II 10-5
while the Conquerors silenced the Saudi Ericsson 8-7. They repeated their assault in the
second game, defeating their opponents KFH Iskan Knights and KSU Kamandag with an
identical score of 9-6 respectively.
Rookie team Aero Darters also enjoyed a two fold success by upsetting the two Saudi
Ericsson sides with a high 10-5 record a piece. The latecomer KFH Iskan Knights also
bagged their initial victory over the KSU Kamandag in a satisfactory performance 8-7 in
the first game while Seif II beat rookie Ericsson 2818s with an ending 12-3 mark in the
second game.
Dave Fowler of Iskan Knights registered a superb 501 finish by 16 darts. His teammate,
George Yadao, emerged as the sole T80 producer of the day, the first so far in this
contest.
