Riyadh, April 10, 2000 Tiger-A led by their ever-agile captain,
Kameen Khan, guided his team to the first ever Bacha Khan volleyball title at the Shumaisi
ground.
The new champions defeated Al Burj Banoon club 11-15, 13-15, 12-15 in the final clash
watched by a large Friday crowd.
A total of eight contested in this
invitational tournament. The teams consisted of Tiger-A, Tiger-B, Seraj, Pakhtoon Khowa-A,
Pakhtoon Khowa-B, Al-Burj Banoon and Al Kharaj.
The chief guest, Javed Akhtar Chaudhry not only witnessed the final showdown and then
later awarded prizes to the champions, runner up and various individual deserving awards
based on their performances during the course of the event. He was assisted here by Akhtar
Alam Khattak.
The championship trophy was given away to captain Khan and the runner up trophy to the
Banoon team captain. The recipients of the individual prizes were Pervez, Abdul Baryan,
Jan, Khan, Khaled, Anwar, Muhammed Shah and Abdul Rahman.
In his closing speech, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of the organizers for not
only organizing the event but also popularizing the game of volleyball in the capital
city.
Words of appreciation were also aired for the organizing committee led by Khattak,
coordinator Jamshaid Iqbal Aamer, Jehan Zeb, Ali Rahman, Haleem Khattak, Mazhar Khan, Noor
Rahman and Ehsan.
Winding up the proceedings, Coordinator Aamer thanked the chief guest, the fans, players
and the teams for their cooperation in making this gala end successfully. |
