RIYADH MILITARY HOSPITAL CAPTURE TOP FLIGHT CROWN IN HITTT 2000 TENNIS

RIYADH, Sept. 5, 2000 – The Riyadh Military Hospital led by Edward Cabanes were awarded the Class-A championship trophy in the men’s category of the HITTT 2000 tennis gala at the recent colorful dinner cum prize awarding ceremony held at the spectacular Jadawel compound social hall.
Over two hundred tourney participants and guests were treated to a special evening of awards, raffles and special song numbers. The event, an exclusive bonanza for the city hospitals, was participated by two hundred and eighty players and 35 teams in the men’s category. The participants consisted of employees and dependents from twelve hospitals of the city. They were King Fahad National Guard, King Faisal Specialist & Research Center, King Khaled Eye Specialist, Security Forces, Riyadh Military, Insurance, King Khaled University, Green Crescent, Hammadi, KKIA, RKH-AKMICH and the Kingdom.
Over the course of two and a half months of sheer summer, intense and exciting competitions were held in courts of different hospitals among the teams who had subscribed to HITTT objectives of friendship, fitness and fun through the game of tennis. In his address, chairman Manny Lector cited the efforts of those who helped in the success of the tourney, including the members of the executive committee comprising J. Estero – vice chairperson internal, Nilo Eugenio – vice chairman external, B. Vasquez – secretary general, A. Gutierrez – assistant secretary general, H. Simolde – treasurer, N. Manlapig – assistant treasurer, Dan Galang, A. Robles - PROs, M. Yapsangco, J. Vinluan – auditors. Also, words of thanks were aired for Mike Maddock, the host of the evening affair, sponsors, the hard working hospital coordinators and many volunteers.
Special guests who graced climax included Farouk El Laithy, chairman of Riyadh Team Tennis League, Ahbet Quinto, country manager of Power Horse Energy Drink and Saeed Hassan of Racquet Shop. Eugenio and Robles were the emcees of the ceremony, which the attendees praised as very well managed and organized.
Two hundred and ten handsome trophies, courtesy of Power Horse and silver-lined plates were given away to the winning teams and deserving individuals. Special awards were presented to the newly discovered young talents namely Jolly De Guzman and Michelle Dela Cruz of RKH. The event was sponsored by Power Horse Energy Drink, Coca-Cola, Sarawat Superstore, Anseri Cargo and Al Hakbani Establishment.

Class-B1: champion – Security Forces Hospital (captain Herman Honrado, assistant captain Noli Mendoza, Edwin Ranosa, Manny Albes, Rene Soriano, Camar Pancho, Ely Sabello; runner up – KKIA hospital (captain Ric Camara, assistant captain Jess Malto, Willie Tecson, Randy Cepe, Mahmoud Sindab, Joe Carido; best single player – Ernie Serrano (KFSH), best double players – Mahmoud Sindab, Jess Malto (KKIA).

Class-B2: champion – King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (captain Lito Sapon, assistant captain Moises Balenton, Felix Pacleb, Robert Chau, Ben Banal, Oscar Adalla, Dennis Pangilinan; runner up – Insurance Hospital (captain Bobby Deocareza, assistant captain Jun Dizon, Romy Facal, Ray Soriano, Danny Orozco, John Umawing, Noel Bautista; best single player – Moises Balenton (KKESH), best double players – Lito Sapon, Ben Banal (KKESH).
