RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, October 24, 2000 – In the lone top flight
Division I match played over the weekend, KFSH RC-1 had to produce their best to overcame
a strong challenge from the fighting Synergy to win by 44-40 margin at the Fall Season
2000 Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL).
In some of the thrilling results in the doubles, Samia and Santos beat Moafa and Ebreo
8-6. The victors kept up the pressure by winning again as Cabilangan and Ege breezed past
Petersen and Costumbrado to wrap up the match.
In Division II, Vinnell scored an easy victory over Cordoba by 52-38. For the winners, C.
Balint beat Aamer Javed 8-6 in the singles. Of the doubles, E. Carillo and M. Obligado won
against R. Chau and V. Le 8-7. Lastly, L. Malinao and H. Flores down J. Maihle and A.
Maihle 8-6.
The Cavaliers and KFH EAC-1 encounter in Division III, to the surprise of many, ended in a
tie at 45-all. In some of the best matches, for the former, Romy Onias coasted 8-6 over W.
Catiis. Their T. Flores and P. Pagulyan also defeated A. Dantes and C. Esplanada 8-7. For
KFH, M. Adib set aside Pagulayan 8-3.
The event is sponsored by Sport Ghornatah, the sole agent of Nike sport wears in the
Kingdom. Veteran Farouk El Laithy heads the organizing committee. He is supported by
