RIYADH, March 27, 2000 Twenty-one teams, divided into five
divisions based on their strength of play, will begin action at various compounds from
March 29 in the Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL) 2001 Spring Season League.
The main sponsor, Sports Ghornatah, the sole agent of Nike products in the Kingdom with
support from the BISON energy drink are fully behind this gala, which will wind up with
the prize distribution ceremony at the Najd compound on May 31. Abdullah Al Thehaiban,
assistant managing director, has reiterated its commitment to RTTL.
In the top flight, DQ takes on King Fahad Hospital 1 in the lone match. Two matches are
lined up in Division II where Cordoba plays Al Yamama and North South Center clashes with
Arab National Bank. In Division III, KFH OR Rebels is pitted against Most Tennis and
Kingdom City goes against Security Forces Hospital Program. Two matches each are scheduled
in Division IV and V. In Division IV, Vinnell Arabia tackles King Abdulaziz Medical City
Al Makateb 1 and Insurance Hospital Al Hakbani battles Electrolink. In the last of the
division, SFHP plays Pannesma and KFH Al Makateb II takes on Cyber 2001.
The composition of a team composes of twelve players. The participating teams are Division
1 Vinnell Tennis, Diplomatic, King Fahad Hospital; Division II Cordoba,
North South, Al Yamama, Arab National Bank; Division III KFH OR Rebels, Kingdom
City, Most Tennis, Security Forces Hospital Program; Division IV Al Kharj Military
Industries Corporation Hospital, Vinnell Arabia, Insurance Hospital Al Hakbani,
Electrolink KFSH & RC, King Abdulaziz Medical City Al Makateb I; Division V
Saudi Telecom, Security Forces Hospital Program, King Fahad Hospital Al Makateb II, Cyber
2001, Pannesma.
Farouk El Laithy heads the organizing committee. He is assisted by A. Robles, Larry
Bustamante vice chairmen, M. Carido, S. Marasigan secretaries, Chris Balint
Division 1 representative, Richard Lucardie Division 2, C. Santos
Division 3, Nel Lorenzo Division 4, V. Alegre Division 5. Others members are
Manny Lector, Herman Honrado and Nilo Eugenio.
