Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, May 24, 2001 – The Arab National Bank (ANB) trying its luck for the top honor in Division II, this week defeated Al Yamama by 46-40 at the ongoing Nike Riyadh Team Tennis League (RTTL) 2001 Spring Season League.
Surprisingly, both the teams, ANB and Al Yamama, are currently placed third and fourth respectively in Division II standings. They will really have to work hard to overtake the group leader NSC to stake a claim to the Division II title.
Of the some thrilling action between ANB and Yamama, Al Zahrani beat Valasco 8-4. The pair of Talatala-Albes down Lucardie-Lopez 8-7. Al Zahrani-Velasco tandem also won, winning over Velasco-Cambell 8-6.
In the lone clash played in Division III, the Most Tennis Team outplayed Kingdom City by 40-34 score. The former the first single when Samam went down to Backer 4-8 but recovered to win the doubles. Their Sta Ana-Sabello beat Barker-Synders 8-5.
Placed fourth in Division V and with hope of improving, Saudi Telecom Company outclassed Security Forces by 55-29. The victors were surprised when they lost the opening singles as Constantino lost to Pineda in close fight by 7-8. However, they won the two most important doubles. In the first, Pangilinan-Galpao won over Atillo-Fraila 8-7 and then Acosta-Bunda overcame Frila-Alcarioto 8-4.
